AKTU Issues Guidelines to Prevent Religious Conversion Attempts
Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU), Lucknow, has issued an important notification for all its affiliated colleges and institutions regarding the prevention of religious conversion attempts through inducement or mental pressure within educational campuses.
The circular, issued on 21 July 2026, asks colleges to implement several preventive measures to ensure a safe, secular, and academically focused environment for students. AKTU Releases Important Circular for All Affiliated Colleges
According to the notification, AKTU has directed all affiliated institutions to take necessary action to prevent any attempts of religious conversion through inducement, mental pressure, fear, or other unethical means within educational campuses.
The university has referred to the instructions received from the Governor's Secretariat, Uttar Pradesh, which emphasized the importance of maintaining a secure, secular, and academic atmosphere in higher educational institutions.

Six Preventive Measures Directed to Colleges
AKTU has instructed affiliated institutions to take the following preventive steps.
1. Mentor-Mentee Awareness Sessions
Colleges have been asked to include this topic during mentor-mentee sessions so that students are made aware of the issue and can better understand the importance of reporting any concerns.
2. Strengthen Monitoring and Student Welfare Activities
Institutions have been directed to actively involve:
- Anti-Radicalization Cells, where applicable
- Student Welfare Cells
Regular interaction with students through teacher-parent meetings (PTA Meetings) and informal discussions has also been recommended so that student concerns can be identified at an early stage.
3. Establish Strong Counseling Support
The notification advises institutions to establish effective and sensitive counseling centers where students can comfortably discuss any situation involving:
- Mental pressure
- Inducement
- Suspicious influence
- Personal concerns
The identity of students seeking help should remain completely confidential.
4. Improve Campus and Hostel Security
To strengthen campus safety, colleges have been directed to:
- Improve security arrangements in hostels and sensitive areas.
- Restrict unauthorized entry of outsiders into hostels.
- Conduct surprise inspections whenever necessary.
These measures are intended to maintain a secure environment for students.
5. Organize Awareness Programs
AKTU has also advised institutions to conduct:
- Special lectures
- Seminars
- Awareness programs
These activities should focus on:
- Moral values
- Logical thinking
- Awareness of legal rights
The objective is to help students make informed decisions and avoid becoming victims of any form of undue influence or inducement.
6. Immediate Legal Action Against Suspicious Activities
If any suspicious activity related to such attempts is noticed within the campus or hostels, institutions have been instructed to:
- Immediately inform the local administration.
- Notify the police authorities.
- Ensure legal action under the applicable anti-conversion laws of the state.
